INTRODUCTION TO BLACKSMITHING [workshop]
MACE VITALE
Saturday-Sunday, October 4-5
10:00am-5:00pm
This intro to blacksmithing class will cover the basics of forging, tapering, drawing, bending, curling and twisting of hot metal to create decorative and useful items, such as hooks, ornaments, fire pokers, letter openers, etc. Students will need to bring and be able to swing a 2 1/2 ball or cross ( blacksmith) peen hammer, leather work gloves, safety glasses, and any tongs they may have. I recommend "the Ozark School of Blacksmithing" for tongs. This two-day workshop will provide the beginner blacksmith with the fundamentals of forging and the advanced student the opportunity to continue with previous work.
