DECORATIVE PAINTING [workshop]

In this hands-on workshop, participants learn the skills and techniques of decorative painting, creating beautiful, versatile finishes that can be applied to virtually any surface. Working on prepared sample boards, students practice a broad range of painting methods and techniques. Through the sharing of professional tips and tricks, and color mixing and matching, participants gain experience and a familiarity with all aspects of decorative painting. Using oil-based materials, many types of translucent effects of glazing will be practiced, including traditional methods such as scumble and ragging, as well as contemporary applications. Marbles and gemstones techniques, from reality to fantasy, including porphyry, will also be explored. The popular Venetian plaster effects will be reviewed in depth. Fee includes materials; two 5 x 7 picture frames, ready for the faux finish of your choice.
