MOSAIC SHELL WORK:
SAILOR'S VALENTINES [workshop]
LYNDA SUSAN HENNIGAN,
Visiting Artist
Saturday-Sunday, October 18-19
10:00am-4:00pm
In this special two day workshop students will learn the history of and see pictures depicting Valentines from the 1800's.The group will also learn about the traditional shells that were used to recreate a Sailor's Valentine. They will also complete an 8" valentine of their own using a step-by-step process of affixing colored paper (for the base of the box), drawing a design, then selecting colored shell to illustrate the design. Many of these valentines had old fashioned sayings such as "a gift" and "remember me." Students will also learn how to create letters with shells. Shell work is a precision mosaic design. The size, shape and color of each type of shell is different, which takes time to select a uniform look. The work is fine, so tweezers are used to place the shells. Fee payable with tuition $100.00
Tuition $198.00
