The Guilford Art
Center's annual CRAFT EXPO is a premier exhibition
of the finest in contemporary handmade craft
and one of Connecticut's oldest outdoor juried
craft shows. Featuring the work of 180 artists
from across the United States, the Guilford
Craft Expo this year marks its 51st consecutive
year on the beautiful Guilford Green.

Drawing an estimated
14,000 artists, collectors, and visitors from across
the country, Craft Expo is known for its one-of-a-kind
work of the highest quality: Ceramics, Glass, Leather,
Metal, Metal Jewelry, Non-Metal Jewelry, Non-Wearable
Fiber, Painting, Printmaking & Drawing, Wearable Fiber,
and Wood. Items range from decorative to functional
and traditional to contemporary. All work presented
at Expo is handmade by the artists, all of whom have
been accepted in the show by a panel of professional
peers, thereby ensuring only the highest quality in
workmanship, design and materials.
Popular amenities for the Craft Expo visitor include
a food court, craft activities for youngsters attending
the show, and the chance to bid on donated craft pieces
at the show's annual silent auction. Proceeds raised
through the silent auction and nominal entrance fees
benefit the non-profit Guilford Art Center and its
year-round calendar of gallery and school art education
programs for students of all ages and skill levels.

GENERAL INFORMATION
| The
annual Guilford Art Center Craft Expo is a nationally
juried show of fine American craft, held outdoors,
under tents on the Guilford Green in Guilford,
Connecticut. Approximately 180 artists exhibit
in all craft media including baskets, ceramics,
fiber, glass, leather, metal, jewelry, paper,
mixed media, sculpture, furniture, wood and
more. Work must be original and created by the
artist. Expo is produced by the Guilford Art
Center working with Artrider
Productions, Inc., organizers since 1982
of nationally acclaimed craft and art shows.

Guilford Art Center Seeks Craft Expo Volunteers
On the Guilford Green, July 17, 18 & 19
Guilford Art Center seeks volunteers to assist with the 51st annual Craft Expo, once again to be held on the Guilford Green. Craft Expo 2008 is scheduled for Thursday, Friday & Saturday, July 17, 18 & 19. One of Connecticut's oldest and finest outdoor juried craft shows, Craft Expo showcases the best traditional and contemporary high-caliber crafts made by 170 American artists.
Volunteers are crucial during this busy, three-day event. Volunteers are needed to help with: Event setup/breakdown; admissions; booth relief for artists; the Silent Auction of donated crafts; the Kids' Crafts Table and more.
Saturday volunteers are especially needed this year. Saturday volunteers will receive a Free Saturday Admission pass for a friend.
Craft Expo is one of the shoreline's favorite summer events, and one of Guilford Art Center's most important fundraisers, benefiting its School and Gallery programs. All volunteers receive free admission to all 3 days of the event, invitation to the Artists' Dinner, and the fun and camaraderie of supporting Guilford Art Center and its programs for the community through this popular event. Volunteers can work any and all times during the show (most shifts are a minimum of 3 hours). Friends can work together! Teens can earn community service credit.
