Call for Submissions: Going to the Dogs (& Cats & Birds...),
May 4 - June 24, 2012 This exhibit/sale will feature crafts and art works in all media intended for, or inspired by, man’s best friend and all beloved pets. We are looking to include: fine art and objects inspired by pets—paintings, sculptures, mixed-media works, pet-shaped/inspired items like cutting boards, mugs, plates, jewelry, mixed media works, handmade accessories (collars, leashes, coats, etc), functional items (wooden dog houses, pottery food bowls, pillows, beds), pet portraits and more! A portion of proceeds from sales of works will benefit the Connecticut Humane Society.

Winter 2012 classes at Guilford Art Center begin the week of January 9. Adult classes include Beading, Blacksmithing, Ceramics, Drawing, Fiber, Glass, Metals, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Special Interest, and Weaving. Most adult classes at Guilford Art Center are open to students of all levels. Contact the Center to discuss your questions and interests. Financial aid is available; awards are based on need and interest and are most often partial scholarships, to enable as many students as possible to participate. Faculty Art Work Featured in Exhibition
Guilford Art Center is pleased to announce an exhibit of works in all media by its faculty artists. The Faculty Exhibition features works by artists who have taught at the Center during the past two years. It will take place in the Center's Mill Gallery, February 10-March 16, 2012.

Grown-ups Celebrate Halloween at Guilford Art Center's Annual Costume Party Saturday, October 29th, 7-11pm
Guilford Art Center announces it's third annual Halloween Costume Party for adults 21 & over, on Saturday, October 29, 7-11pm. This year the party will take place in the school at Guilford Art Center. The Halloween Party will also be the location of a jack-o-lantern contest, sponsored in conjunction with the Guilford Park & Recreation Department's annual Halloween Party.

One-of-a-kind, handmade crafts by hundreds of artists from across the country will be featured at this annual event, including ceramics, candles, glass, jewelry, fiber, ornaments, stationery, leather goods, toys, and more.
Guilford Art Center Seeks Volunteers for Holiday Sale of Craft & Art
The Guilford Art Center seeks volunteers to help with its annual Artistry Holiday Sale of Fine Craft & Art, to take place November 4 through January 8. Artistry will fill the Center with one-of-a-kind, handmade crafts by hundreds of artists from across the country. It is a unique shopping experience and a place to find great holiday gifts-ceramics, jewelry, leather goods, fabric pieces and much more.
Volunteers are crucial during this busy seasonal event. The Art Center can use help with unpacking merchandise during October; and customer assistance, wrapping, restocking and more during the sale. Shop staff will teach volunteers everything there is to know. Morning and afternoon shifts are available.

We are looking for a picture for a Guilford Art Center holiday card, non-denominational, please. We have so many talented young artists in our community, it will be a tough decision. But yours may be the winning image!
Here’s how it works:
Contest is open to children ages 18 years and under
Create your artwork, in any media—drawing, painting, photograph, 3-D, etc. One image per student, please.
Photograph your artwork and email it to contest@guilfordartcenter.org. Please send a high-resolution jpeg of 1 MB or more.
Deadline for receipt of images is October 3. Winner will be notified on October 11.
Contest winner will receive a free class of their choice at Guilford Art Center.
New creations by adult students from the Guilford Art Center will be featured in the Student Show at Center's Mill Gallery, August 17 - September 4, 2011.
Join Guilford Art Center on Trip to Artist's Fantastical Studio, Luna Parc
Guilford Art Center is sponsoring a bus trip to Luna Parc, in Montague, New Jersey, to visit with multi-faceted artist Ricky Boscarino. The trip takes place on Saturday, October 15, with the bus departing at 9am and returning at 7pm.
Guilford Art Center is hosting an Open House on Sunday, September 11, from noon to 3pm. Just in time for the Fall semester, the public is invited to come and visit the GAC campus, tour the workshops and facilities, and visit the gallery and shop of fine craft.
Guilford Art Center Receives Grant for Scholarship Support
Guilford Art Center is pleased to announce that it has received a grant of $1,500 from the George A. and Grace L Long Foundation, Bank of America, N.A
Scholarships Available for Classes and Workshops
