COMIC BOOKS AND SEQUENTIAL ART
DAVID FERREIRA, Visiting Artist
Four Tuesdays, beginning August 5
6:30pm-9:30pm
If you have an interest in comic books, creating character driven stories and like to draw, this class is for you! Whether you love Super-heros, Sci-fi, Manga, Fantasy or Comedy, the structure within is all the same. We will touch on all the essential tools you'll need to understand the comic book medium. Students will learn all the fundamentals of story-telling art. You will be introduced to several forms of art in the world of comics, from the classic Sunday morning funnies to contemporary main stream and independent comics. Students will learn techniques for developing a story outline, page layout, character design, drawing with perspective, inking and tips on lettering their comics. Using these new techniques, students will then be challenged to develop their own short story by creating a rough outline, several sketches and four pages of finished art. Students should have rudimentary drawing skills and love to draw. Figure drawing or anatomy experience may be helpful but is not necessary. Students are asked to bring with them a medium sized sketchbook. Fee payable with tuition for materials $25.00.
Tuition $100.00
Members $80.00
